The tote bag. A crude style of bag made out of canvas, a "mere
carrier bag" for carrying stuff.
It all began in 2001. For ROOTOTE, we wondered if we
couldn’t take a simple, functional tote bag, and somehow
make it more fun, more compelling.
Just as it had been with the t-shirt, the tote bag possessed an
identity of its own that could bring pleasure just from being
seen, and enjoyment when carried while walking. Such were
the hidden possibilities of the tote bag that we sought to reveal.
